Electrification only works reliably when the battery fits the application. It must store sufficient energy, provide high performance, operate safely, and be easily integrated into the existing vehicle or machine. The EvoTractionBattery was developed precisely for this purpose. It is based on lithium-ion NMC technology and is designed for use in commercial vehicles, material handling equipment, construction and agricultural machinery, boats, and special devices. Various sizes and voltage options allow the battery to adapt to different requirements.
With available energy contents of around 5 to 15 kWh per battery unit, voltage options of 48 V or 96 V, and the possibility for series and parallel connections, a battery system is created that can be scaled from compact individual applications to significantly larger energy systems.

Not every machine requires the same battery. A small specialized vehicle has different requirements than a heavy-duty machine, a boat, or an autonomous vehicle. The EvoTractionBattery is designed as a scalable battery platform. Individual battery packs can be operated both in series and in parallel. According to the current product specifications, up to eight batteries in series and up to 15 batteries in parallel are possible. This allows both voltage and available capacity to be adapted to the respective vehicle concept. Thus, the battery does not become a limiting component, but rather a platform on which different electric drive solutions can be built.
High energy density with compact dimensions
In mobile machines, every centimeter and every kilogram counts. Therefore, a battery must not only store sufficient energy but also provide that energy as compactly as possible. The EvoTractionBattery utilizes lithium-ion cylindrical cells with NMC cell chemistry. This allows the product family to achieve an energy density ranging from 138 to 178 Wh/kg, depending on the size. This can make a significant difference, especially in vehicles and machines. Less weight and a more compact size create more opportunities for payload, range, and vehicle design. The largest variant offers nearly 15 kWh of energy at 84 kg weight, while the compact 5-kWh version weighs only 35 kg.
A traction battery must do more than just store energy. Especially in vehicles and machines, high power demands arise when accelerating, starting, lifting, or during short-term peak loads. The EvoTractionBattery is designed for a maximum discharge rate of 3 C for one second according to specifications. This allows the battery to provide a multiple of its nominal capacity briefly. This makes it particularly interesting for applications where not only range but also high dynamic performance is required.
Three sizes – suited to the application
The EvoTractionBattery is currently available in three basic energy sizes. All three variants can be configured with 48 V or 96 V. This enables a wide range of different vehicles and machines to be covered with a standardized battery platform.
EvoTractionBattery 5 kWh
The smallest variant has a gross energy capacity of 4,973 Wh and is particularly suitable for compact vehicles, smaller machines, specialized equipment, or applications where weight and space are critical factors.
Weighing 35 kg and measuring 522 × 222 × 213 mm, it is the most compact variant in the product family. The energy density is 138 Wh/kg. It is available in both 48 V and 96 V variants.
EvoTractionBattery 10 kWh
The mid-range variant offers 9,946 Wh gross energy and provides a good compromise between energy content, weight, and space.
It weighs 59 kg and has dimensions of 522 × 222 × 322 mm. Due to the higher energy density of 166 Wh/kg, significantly more energy is available without proportional increases in space. This variant is also available in 48 V or 96 Volts.
EvoTractionBattery 15 kWh
The largest standard variant provides 14,918 Wh gross energy. It is suitable for applications with higher energy demands and longer operating times.
With a weight of 84 kg, dimensions of 522 × 222 × 437 mm, and an energy density of 178 Wh/kg, it offers the best ratio of stored energy content to weight within the current product family. The 15 kWh version is also available in 48 V or 96 V configurations.

The individual battery units can be connected in series up to eight times and in parallel up to 15 times, according to the manufacturer. This allows for voltage and capacity to be adjusted for significantly larger applications. The product page specifies a configuration of the EvoTractionBattery for up to 450 V system voltage. For even higher voltages, customized solutions can be developed. Plug & Play instead of complicated individual development
A battery in a vehicle consists not only of cells. It must work together with the charger, vehicle control, display, and other system components. Here, the EvoTractionBattery offers a significant advantage. Functions such as charging communication, unlocking, and display control are already integrated. Additionally, the battery, according to ecovolta, does not require a separate 12-V onboard voltage for its basic function.

With a traction battery, safety is not an optional feature; it is the foundation of the entire system. The EvoTractionBattery has been developed according to automotive standards by ecovolta. The safety concept includes a battery management system at SIL2 level, a patented protection for each individual cell, redundant overcurrent monitoring, and a comprehensive shutdown function. This approach ensures that safety is not only evaluated at the battery level. Individual cells are also included in the protection concept. In mobile applications with vibrations, varying loads, and demanding environmental conditions, such a multi-layered safety concept is particularly crucial.
Integrated Battery Management System
The battery management system is the central monitoring and protection system of a lithium-ion battery. The evoTractionBattery utilizes a SIL2-level BMS. It monitors the operation of the battery and is part of the overarching safety concept. The 96-V variant also offers a version with an integrated insulation monitor according to the manufacturer. This allows for the elimination of an additional external insulation monitor in suitable system architectures.
