Quiet: The operation is almost silent and barely noticeable. This makes the system ideal for sensitive environments such as living areas, hospitals, or offices.

POWERUP UP400 – STATEMENTS ON COST-EFFECTIVENESS

From today’s perspective, the economic viability of hydrogen fuel cell generators must be viewed in a nuanced manner, as it heavily depends on the application case, the costs of hydrogen, and the regulatory framework.

Capital costs:
The acquisition costs are currently still significantly higher than those of conventional diesel or gas generators. The reasons include low production volumes, expensive materials such as catalysts, and an immature and not fully scaled supply chain.

Operating costs:
In operation, fuel cell generators can provide economic advantages. Maintenance requirements are very low as there are no moving parts, and oil changes or extensive maintenance are eliminated. The highest cost factor remains the price of hydrogen, especially for green hydrogen.

Energy efficiency:
With efficiencies of around 45 to 60 percent, fuel cells utilize the energy carrier very efficiently. This positively impacts the costs per produced kilowatt-hour, especially during continuous operation or partial load, where internal combustion engines lose efficiency.

Incentives and regulation:
Government funding programs, CO₂ pricing, and stricter emission requirements are increasingly enhancing economic viability. In emissions-sensitive areas, hydrogen generators can already be more economically attractive today, as costs for exhaust gas treatment, noise protection, and emission fees are eliminated.

Applications:
